My most favorite place in the world is in the sun with a good glass of wine and a nice snack; some tapas, bread, oysters you name it! The location of the place doesn’t really matter I’m happy as long as the company, the wine and the food are good. Therefore I always try to be prepared for unexpected guests to drop by or for when I’m in the mood for a nice snack myself. My fridge (fridges; we upgraded with an additional fridge last weekJ) are always filled with ingredients for a nice snack. And honestly, whilst writing this blog in my own garden, I’m already looking forward to later today when we can again realize my most favorite place in the world.

The below snack fits the above criteria perfectly, easy and quickly to make with something you may just have planted in your garden.

Ingredients for 1 ciabatta:

  • 1 ciabatta
  • fresh herbs like parsley, basil and rosemary
  • olive oil
  • 1 clove of garlic
  • sea salt
  • powdered paprika

How to prepare it:

Poor some olive oil in a bowl. Peel the skin of the garlic, cult the garlic in half and remove the root. Squeeze the garlic into the olive oil.

Preheat your oven. Remove the ciabatta from the packaging. Carve with a sharp knife some lines into the bread, both in the far length as sideways.

Use a small brush to grease the oil onto the bread. The oil will draw into the bread where you’ve made the carves. Make sure you use enough of the oil, don’t be thrifty. But make sure there is a bit of oil left for later during the process.

Bake the bread for 6 minutes. In the meantime you can chop the fresh herbs. Remove the bread from the oven. You’ll see that the carves opened up a bit. Use the remaining oil to grease the bread once more. Sprinkle the herbs, some sea salt and some powdered paprika on top of the bread.

Put the bread back into the oven for another 2 minutes.

Your kitchen will smell delicious! You can just break of the small pieces of bread. No butter or other spreads needed.
