A good Dutch beef stew is only complete when you have sweet red cabbage added as a side dish! Some recipes are good on its own and need little to none additions. So enjoy this little beet sweet red cabbage with your beef stew and mashed potatoes.

Ingredients for 2 pers.:

  • 1 red cabbage
  • 1 apple
  • Handful of white raisins
  • Balsamic syrup
  • grinded anise seeds
  • 100 ml water

How to prepare it:

Chop the red cabbage into small chips. Put the red cabbage with some grinded anise seed and water in a pan, bring the water to a boil and allow to boil for 5 minutes. Peel the apple, remove the brood and cut the apple into small cubes. Add the apple, raisins and some balsamic syrup to the red cabbage. Stir well and bring to a boil again. Let everything boil for another 20 minutes until the red cabbage has softened. Serve lukewarm. Tip: Delicious with hachee and mashed potatoes.
