Delightful marinated shrimps with a Asian touch! Really nice to combine with a bit of satay sauce. Do note that you need 2 hours marinating time to make sure that the taste really gets into the shrimps!

Ingredients for 2 pers.:

  • 350 gr shrimps
  • Ketjap manis
  • soy sauce
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 lime
  • 5 spices
  • 1 tablespoon of sambal
  • pepper
  • wooden sticks for the BBQ

How to prepare it:

Squeeze the juice from the lime. Peel of the garlic and cut the garlic in half. Remove the root. Take a serving bowl and start mixing the marinade. Add a big sip of ketjap, a bit of soy sauce and the lime juice. Stir well.

Add the sambal and squeeze out the garlic. Add the 5 spices (don’t be thrifty) and some pepper. Stir well and taste the marinade to see if it is spicy enough. If it needs a bit more spice, add some more sambal and 5-spices.

Peel the shrimps (if they are not peeled and remove the intestines). Put the shrimps in the marinade and stir well. Put them in the fridge and let it marinade for at least 2 hours.

Put the wooden sticks in a small layer of water just 30 min before using. Take the shrimps out of the fridge and put them on the sticks. Grill the sticks for 8 minutes in a double sided grill or 15 minutes on the BBQ (turn regularly).
