Granaatappel

For me, cooking is some kind of a natural habit and therefore some skills seem normal to me but I keep discovering they are not known to everybody. A little while ago I was sitting in a restaurant with my mom and my sisters and we started to discuss nice salads. I mentioned that I always like to add pomegranate to a salad because it gives such a nice a fresh taste. My sister agreed but she said it was such a huge amount of work to get all the seeds out. This was the reason she rarely eats them. I had to laugh and mentioned it’s not that difficult and it takes only 2 minutes.

After we realized my sister took out the seeds one by one and that’s why it took her so long. I gave her the advice below:

Cut the pomegranate in half and take a big bowl. Hold one half of the pomegranate in the bowl and spank it with the back of a table spoon on the back of the pomegranate. This way you bang out the seeds. Just be careful of the juice as the color might stick on your clothes, so please make sure you keep the pomegranate deep in the bowl.
