The one and only traditional Tarte Flambe! Tarte Flambe looks a bit like pizza but there are two major differences; 1) the bottom is much thinner than with pizza’s this is the reason it’s more a starter or small appetite than an actual meal and 2) you are using creme fraiche instead of tomato sauce to grease the bottom. By adding a bit of nutmeg you are adding a nice herby flavour to the tarte.

Ingredients for 1 Tarte Flambe

  • 1 crust for Tarte Flambé
  • 75 gr bacon
  • 1 onion
  • Grated cheese (gruyere)
  • 100 ml creme fraiche
  • Nutmeg
  • Pepper

How to prepare it:

Pre-heat the oven to 240 degrees.

Put the crust for the Tarte Flambé on the griddle. Cover the crust with the crème fraiche, make sure you cover all the edges. Grate some nutmeg on top and add some pepper as well.

Divide the bacon over the tarte flambe. Peel the onion and cut it in half, use a sharp knife to cut small slices from the onion so that you’ll get half rings. Divide the onion over the tarte flambe. Finish off by sprinkling some grated cheese on top.

Bake the Tarte Flambé in the oven for about 5-8 minutes.
