ijsblokjes

Besides all the glasses of wine and beer on the terrace I usually only drink water and lemonade during the summer. But actually I’m not a big fan of just water, that’s why I often make ice cubes with a fruit twist. They are very easy to make and they give a bit of flavor to the water. And one of the best things is that it looks really nice, especially when you put a big jar of water on the table.

How do you make them? It doesn’t really matter what kind of fruit or herbs you use, just make sure that you clean them before using. As an example, you can make ice cubes with lime and mint. Cut the lime into thin slices and take the mint of its stem. Put the mint and the lime into the ice-cube tray. Fill the tray with water and put it in the freezer.

Another tip is using different fruits for example blueberries and raspberries. Wash the fruits, cut the raspberries if they are too big for the ice-cube tray. Fill up the tray and put it in the freezer. These ice-cubes will give a nice and sweet flavor to your water and it looks very festive!
