This tuna salad always brings me back to summer in Switzerland. It’s funny to notice that sometimes a dish or a specific flavor can bring your memory back to certain events or locations. When we used to spend summer holidays in Switzerland we hiked a lot in the mornings and we often liked a raclette for lunch. You can imagine that having a bowl of melted cheese every day is not that healthy and made the hiking exercise heavier after a couple of days. So sometimes we had to go for the second best lunch option; bread with home-made tuna salad. The salad that I made in Switzerland was really too easy; I just took a can of tuna, some powdered paprika and lemon-flavored mayonnaise. Nowadays the salad contains a bit more ingredients and flavours but is still really good and easy to make.

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of tuna
  • ½ red onion
  • ½ lemon
  • 2 tablespoons of creme fraiche
  • powdered paprika
  • chili powder
  • fresh parsley
  • pepper

How to prepare it:

Open the can and poor out the oil. Put the tuna in a bowl and mash it. Chop the onion into small pieces, squeeze the lemon. Add the onion, lemon juice, some powdered paprika, a bit of pepper and a very small amount of chili powder to the tuna. Mash everything until you’ve got a nice and smooth tuna salad. Chop the parsley and add this to the tuna salad.

Nice to serve with some bread.
